‘Our Lady of The Meadow’ Herbal Medicine Retreat

I warmly welcome you to Our Lady of The Meadow, an intimate herbal medicine retreat at held at the Old Clarence Brewery in Maclean, near Yamba.

We gather to make medicine, to commune with our plant allies, and to share and learn from each other. We will spend our mornings in quiet meditation with the plants, our days making herbal medicine in the kitchen, and our evenings around the fire listening to folktale and mythic stories.

This retreat is designed to offer both a place of rest and rejuvenation, as well as wisdom around herbal medicine and working with plants as allies for health and wellbeing.

During these three days together we gather for the following workshops:

  • Herbal Skincare: Learn how to make your own herbal skincare, including body butters, balms and salves, herbal infused body oils, body scrubs and face masks. We will look at different plants that have special affinities for skin health.

  • Herbal Medicine Workshop: This is my signature workshop, and over 4 hours we will cover how to use herbs safely in the home, energetics of herbal medicine and moving beyond the allopathic approach, take a quick look at Medical Astrology, and learn about (and how to prepare) flower remedies, electuaries, herbal infused honey, oxymels and tinctures.

  • Herbal Medicine in The Kitchen: On Saturday afternoon we will spend a few hours in the kitchen preparing beautiful meal together. Here we will look at how to implement herbs and herbal wisdom into our food and cooking (moving beyond the common kitchen herbs). We will make a main dish, several side dishes and a dessert (think a medicinal lavender dandelion brownie).

All workshops are hands-on and interactive. You will leave the retreat with minimum 6 full sized products to take home.

Plant Tea Meditations

Plants have a way of beckoning us back into ourselves, into a way of living that is harmonious and in reciprocity with all of the living world.  Learning directly from the plants is perhaps my favorite way of working with them, and requires attention and a willingness to listen. It requires us to slow down; to be still.

During our Tea Meditations we will explore plants through a non-linear approach; creating a space that allows us to learn directly with the plants themselves.

We greet the plants to learn more about them, and in the process are invited to discover more about ourselves.

This is both a moment of learning and discovery- and a moment of self inquiry and reflection.

We will begin our mornings in quiet mediation with rose and blue lotus.
